Moreover, since 2002 our club consistently competes in the national youth basketball tournament – GYMRAT with impressive results.

Since the inception of the club, 17 of our players have gone on to play for their college teams, helping them win multiple honors and championships in New York. One of our players Yuriy Matsakov was signed by a professional basketball team Brooklyn Wonders.

Just recently, on January 19, 2011, the club participated in the Russian Culture night in the Prudential Center during the halftime of the New Jersey Nets and the Utah Jazz game. The club played an exhibition game in the 16-17 age group.

Due to the move of the New Jersey Nets to Brooklyn, New York, our club is actively seeking partnerships with the Nets association in order to establish Brooklyn’s Basketball Academy. This will help establish a new and widen an existing fan base in the Russian-speaking community of New York.

The goals of establishing Brooklyn’s Basketball Academy (BBA):

  • Unite all russian-speaking basketball clubs in Brooklyn under one Academy
  • Increase the quality of coaching through seminars and other similar benefits
  • Create tournaments for amateurs, veterans and other groups in the russian-speaking community
  • Provide training to high school graduates trying out for college basketball teams
  • Create training programs for coaches, referees and managers
  • Create a youth basketball league in New York for russian-speaking teams
  • Help establish connections with similar organizations in other countries
  • Create a New Jersey Nets Fan Club
  • Brooklyn’s Basketball Academy would be responsible for the distribution of season tickets to the russian speaking community of New York as well as the members of the BBA Academy
